IDEA 1:

Co-operative learning strategy – Beat the Teacher.

BRIEF EXPLANATION:

Students work in groups against other teams. In each group, one is the teacher, who has the answer sheet, and the others in the group have to guess the answer. Students race to get all the correct answers; they have 3 attempts before the teacher must move on to the next question. The first team to get to the end stands up but the race continues until the last team finishes. You then award points for the most correct answers and the fastest team.

RESOURCES:

Answer sheet for the teacher.

TARGET STUDENTS:

KS3 and/or KS4.

IDEA 1:

Conscience Corridor

BRIEF EXPLANATION:

The class is split into two and the teacher poses a question where opinions and answers can be "for/against" "agree/disagree" (e.g. Macbeth is a villain). The teacher should tell each group which side is arguing for which (e.g. Left side - argue for. Right side - argue against.) The teacher then walks around the halves of the class posing questions to help spur on a debate between each side. They MUST argue for the side the teacher has told them.

RESOURCES:

Classroom with some space to walk / easily split into two. Question.

TARGET STUDENTS:

KS3 and/or KS4.
